![]() ST. MARTIN DEPORRES FOOD BANK
We serve all that come to ask for assistance with groceries if they believe they cannot afford them. Our food bank is open every Friday 9:00am - noon. No one allowed to enter line after 11:45am.
We see miracles happen in our food bank weekly. We see empty shelves on Fridays at noon and see Thursday evening those empty shelves full again for the next week. We believe “God will provide” each week for the needs that will come before us. We promise to say “yes” when Jesus comes to us to ask for food. The food will come from people that really care and sacrifice for others. Schools, churches, Scouts, workplaces such as Postal Workers, Capital Credit Union, several employee work unions, grocery stores such as Festival Foods and Roundy’s Copp’s and Pick-n-Save, Breadsmith, Sara Lee’s Holsum Bakery and others.
We go through $1,000 worth of groceries each day in our food bank and dining rooms. 100,000 meals were served last year from these miracles. We have “St. Joseph Dining Room” for men open for meals everyday at 11:30am and 4:30pm for all men who live with us and from the community. Also we have “Our Lady of Guadalupe Dining Room” for women and their children at noon and 5:00pm daily. See “Our Lady of Guadalupe Dining Room”, “St. Joseph Dining Room” and “Holy Family Dining Room” for more information about them.
We have had 7 young people in the past year, ages 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, and 21 years old that have had people bring non-perishable food or money to their birthday parties this past year in lieu of gifts, to donate to our food bank. It was very heartwarming to see young people act out of selflessness. We hear too much about the selfishness in our newspapers and not enough of the acts of selflessness. We see it many times each week from our youth.
Anyone wanting to start a food drive at their church, school, workplace or other gathering space is welcome to call and set up a time and place. We would love to cooperate with anyone wanting to serve Jesus by feeding him. We will be here to welcome you as well as come to pickup at your place.
