Peter’s Boat Coffee House:
Father Carr’s Place 2B has been home to many fun activities over the years, from roller skating and basketball and volleyball to rock bands and DJ’s from the “disco age” in the 70’s to the music of the 80’s, 90’s and into the 21st century. Father Carr’s Place 2B has always been the place to be for family fun! Father Carr’s Place 2B followed the video game era with everything from Pong to Donkey Kong and was there for the first season of Madden NFL on TV video game systems in 1989 on the first Nintendo to Xbox 360 today. We remain a place to be for family fun. We have a Coffee House that has been open for the past 8 years, called “Peter’s Boat Coffee House”.
This fall we begin a 10th year of fun and quality music for families. We have hosted many nationally known greats such as John Michael Talbot twice and Mike Mangione and many other local artists. These awesome artists as well as Aurora Suzuki Music under the direction of Stan Smith, coming for about 20 years to visit Oshkosh and staying here with his students for a whirlwind weekend of music and fun. They did many concerts not just here at Father Carr’s but also visited local nursing homes and brought tears to many elderly that could not come out to attend concerts. In the same spirit as Aurora Suzuki, Oshkosh Suzuki grew out of it and they too, under direction of David Smith, provided Peter’s Boat Coffee House with heavenly music carrying on his dad, Stan Smith’s greatness. Stan Smith last year retired from 40 years of teaching Suzuki Music in Aurora Illinois and has joined Father Carr’s Place 2B Board of Director’s since 2007. We hope you can join us for Friday nights for music and food. We are dedicated to offer quality music and family fun for all families, young adults and us older adults too, for the 10th year here at Peter’s Boat Coffee House.
We will begin on Fridays after Mass. Mass is at 6:30pm and so the music and food will start at about 7:30pm each Friday night. This is open to all that love music and food. This has always been free and will continue to be free for all to enjoy. The only concerts we have asked for money was 2 concerts by John Michael Talbot as a fund raiser for Father Carr’s Place 2B and Mike Mangione too was a fund raiser for Catholic Youth Expeditions. If you would like to showcase your musical talents, please call me to arrange an audition. We always welcome good local young people and families that have musical talents. Look again this year for the great strings talent from Oshkosh Suzuki to bless us with great classical and fiddle music.
